Life Insurance Consulting in Freehold

We work out how much life insurance your family really needs, which type suits your situation, and whether the coverage you carry today still matches what it was bought to protect. One advisor reads your policies, lays out the options and stays with you as your life moves on.

Coverage that matches the life you have now

Most people buy life insurance at one moment, often through an employer or after a new child, and then rarely look at it again. Years later the mortgage is smaller, the kids are older, a business has grown, and the policy no longer lines up with what it was meant to protect.

Our life insurance consulting starts with the purpose of the money. We ask who depends on your income, which debts would need to be paid, and what you want to leave behind. From there we look at the policies you hold, compare them with what your financial plan calls for, and tell you plainly whether to keep, adjust, add or let go.

A small team means the person who reads your policy documents is the same person who walks you through the findings and checks in when something changes. You do not repeat your story to someone new each time.

What a coverage review includes

A needs calculation
We estimate the amount your family would need if your income stopped, accounting for debts, education goals, ongoing living costs and the savings already in place. The result is a range with the reasoning shown, not a round number pulled from a rule of thumb.
A read of every policy you own
We go through term, whole life, universal life and group coverage line by line. That includes premiums, death benefit, cash value, riders, and when any term or guarantee runs out.
Policy illustrations explained
Permanent policies come with illustrations that can be hard to follow. We show you which figures are guaranteed and which depend on assumptions, so you can see how the policy behaves if those assumptions fall short.
Beneficiary and ownership check
Outdated beneficiary designations are one of the most common problems we find. We confirm that the names, percentages and ownership on each policy match your wishes and your Legacy Planning work.
Coverage for business owners
For owners, we look at how insurance could fund a buy-sell agreement or protect the company if a key person were lost, and how that fits alongside your personal coverage.

Signs it is time for a second look

  • Your only policy is an employer benefit

Coverage provided by an employer often drops away or gets smaller once you change jobs or retire. If that benefit is all you have, a career move can leave your family without the protection you counted on.

  • A big life change since you bought it

Marriage, divorce, a new child, a new mortgage or a business launch all change what your family would need. A policy sized years ago may be far too large or far too small.

  • Premiums on a permanent policy keep rising

Some universal life policies need higher payments over time to stay in force. If your annual statements show shrinking cash value, it is worth understanding why before the policy is at risk of lapsing.

  • You are not sure what you own

If you could not say today which policies you hold, who the beneficiaries are, or when a term ends, a review brings it all onto one page.

How we work through it with you

  1. 1

    Introductory meeting

First we sit down together, in person at our office or over a phone or video call. We hear about your family, what you hope to achieve and the policies you hold, then describe how a review would unfold.

  2. 2

    Gathering your documents

We ask for your policy contracts, recent annual statements and any illustrations. If something is missing, we explain which pieces we need and why.

  3. 3

    Analysis and findings

We compare what you own with what your plan requires and prepare a written summary. It shows gaps, overlaps and costs, with options laid out side by side.

  4. 4

    A plain recommendation

We go through the findings with you and give a direct answer on what to keep, change or add. Nothing moves forward until you are comfortable with it.

  5. 5

    Ongoing check-ins

Coverage needs shift. The same advisor follows up when your circumstances change and folds insurance into your broader Financial Planning reviews.

What shapes the cost of coverage and our work

The price of a life insurance policy depends mostly on the person it covers and what the policy is designed to do. The scope of our review depends on how many policies you hold and how involved your situation is. We talk through both openly in the introductory meeting, so you know what to expect before any work begins.

Age and health
Premiums rise with age, and medical history affects the rating an insurer assigns. Looking at coverage sooner usually leaves more choices open.
Term or permanent
Term coverage protects for a set number of years and costs less per dollar of death benefit. Permanent coverage lasts for life and builds cash value, which carries a higher premium.
Amount and length of coverage
A larger death benefit or a longer term costs more. Sizing the amount carefully is often where the biggest savings appear.
Number and complexity of policies
A single term policy takes far less time to review than several permanent policies with riders, loans or business ownership attached.

Common questions about life insurance

Something not covered here? (732) 655-2212

What is the right amount of coverage for my family?

The answer comes from what the money would need to pay for: replacing your income, clearing debts, funding education and any legacy goals, less the savings already in place. We work through those numbers together and show you how we got there. Many people discover they carry noticeably more or less than they had assumed.

Should I cancel my whole life policy and buy term instead?

Sometimes that makes sense and sometimes it does not. Surrendering a permanent policy can mean losing years of built-up value, paying surrender charges or giving up a health rating you may not get again. We compare both paths in writing before you decide anything.

Is the coverage through my employer enough?

For many families it is not, and it usually does not follow you when you leave the job. We look at how much it provides, whether it can be converted, and whether a personal policy would give you steadier footing.

How does life insurance fit with my retirement and estate plans?

Insurance can provide cash for heirs, cover estate costs or protect a surviving spouse's income in retirement. As a Series 66 licensed advisor holding the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) designation, we review your coverage alongside your Retirement Planning and Legacy Planning, so each piece supports the others.

Do I need to meet in person?

No. Clients from Freehold, Manalapan, Marlboro and nearby towns meet with us at our office, and many prefer phone or video. Documents can be reviewed either way.

Start with a conversation about your coverage

Bring what you have, even if it is just a statement or two. We will listen, explain how a review works and tell you what we would look at first.
